About Our Church
Our Pastor Keri Rainsberger 
I was born and raised in the Columbus, Ohio region and moved to Illinois in 2003 when I was matched with the AIDS Foundation of Chicago for a year of service through the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. I loved it so much I stayed for a second year and then never left! I have family scattered from New Jersey to Washington State. I was baptized as an infant at Summit Station UMC and have been nurtured by UMC congregations ever since. I come from a long line of preachers (a great-grandpa, a great-great uncle, two grandpas, and a dad!) but avoided my own call to pastoral ministry for several years. Instead, I ministered as a data analyst/database manager and by serving in my local church, Broadway UMC, Chicago, as an active lay member. Finally, the call to pastoring grew too loud to push off and I jumped in. While in seminary I served as a student intern with Fisher Memorial AME Zion/Interfaith Action of Evanston and then with First UMC, Evanston. I worship with my whole body so you are likely to see me dancing to the hymns or at least vigorously bobbing my head and tapping my feet. I also like to praise God for creating beautiful days by riding my bike, Jazz, while smiling from ear to ear and occasionally letting out a whoop of pure joy. I like to knit, quilt, and sew and cannot get out of a fabric store without feeling every bolt of fabric. Throughout exploration of my call to pastoral ministry I have had the image of water. Sometimes I saw my ministry as a bridge over troubled water, other times as clinging to a raft on rapids, or other times on the shoreline as the adventure outfitter equipping those in the raft. I look forward to seeing how the waters of Lake Le-Aqua-Na and the congregation of Lena shape and change my call!
